Acadian Festival Parade

I know I have not posted in a while but I have got to get back to it. The kids say the funniest things and this is the best way to record them. On Sunday Matilda went to the Acadian Festival Parade with Wanda. When I picked her up she could not wait to tell me all about it. She said her favorite thing was the pagent girls. "The winners got beautiful crowns AND got to ride in cars with no lids on them(convertibles). They are so lucky!" I think she would love to be on that show Toddlers in Tiarras. Altough she would never admit to being a toddler. The car with no lid comment made me think of the time last year when I had to take her to a wake for an old man that died. My plan was to sit in the back of the church and explain as little as possible. Not five minutes into it she leaned over and asked me "why is that man sleeping in a jewelry box?" That girls wheels are always turning:)

Matilda in the pool
Our beach trip was awesome. This year we went to the Beach Club in Gulf Shores and everyone had a blast. Miss Sheree came with us along with Aunt Jill, TJ, John WIlliam, Chad, and Dustin. I actually cried when it was time to leave.

Fearless

Matilda in line waiting for her turn.
Up, up, and, Away!

Higher Mister

So Matilda wanted her turn on the bouncy bounce at the mall. I thought for sure that she would change her mind but she paid her money, walked on in, and never turned back. This little girl is full of independence !

The grand finale

On Saturday we celebrated the 4th at False River with lots of family. The kids had a great time playing with the cousins as well as taking a boat ride. On the boat ride Bruen asked if we could stop at Wal Mart to pick up some glue on the way home. I told him that Wal Mart was closed because it was a holiday. Matilda asked "What holiday?". I told her it was the 4th of July. The she said "What is that?". I told her it was America's Birthday. Her next question was " Are we going to go to America's party today?"!!! I told her that we were celebrating it at the camp with our family. How Funny!

Sleeping Mask

My mom and I went to the movies this week to see My Sisters Keeper. When I got home this is what I found in my bed. Does the fact that my four year old sleeps with a sleeping mask mean that I am creating a monster? She is just a LITTLE high maintenance. Enjoy!!!!

Ice Age 3

Today we met Kylie and Rebekah to see Ice Age 3. It was so nice to be in the air conditioning! The kids had a great time and so did Rebekah and I, we talked the whole time. Honestly I could not tell you one thing about the movie. I am pretty sure that the Rave is going to have a sign at the door with our pictures and a slash right through it. I don't think we were too much of a bother. The only people sitting around us were some YOUNG kids on the row behind us making out. Is this what we have to look forward to? Scary!!!!

Love Hate Relationship

I actually sat down to post pictures from our Ice Age 3 outing today but found these pictures from yesterday. I bet you are thinking "How Sweet". I was too when I took them. At that very moment I wanted nine more kids, a dozen! However at this very minute I am considering listing the 4 and 6 year old on ebay. They have been fighting ALL day. Bruen harasses her nonstop and she whines. It is enough to drive me crazy. In fact about thirty minutes ago I told Bruen that I had had it, and I was telling his dad how he had been acting. He followed me around like a puppy begging me not to tell, "Just one more chance". I told him not to talk about it again, thinking he might straighten up. Not ten minutes later I catch him dragging his sister out of "his" spot. Stop take a minute and imagine the screaming!!!! I told him that was it and he was probably going to get a spanking with the belt. As I am sitting here typing I hear him telling her that if she can get me not to tell dad on him he will buy her as many purses as she wants. "FREE", he said. "All will be free, as many as you want". The sad thing is that the little diva would rather see him get beat with the belt than receive all those "Free" purses. I am pretty sure I have a good eighteen more years of this brotherly sisterly love.

Bruen on the Spider Blaster & Matildas Play Date

Today Matilda was invited to a play date with her friend Kylie from school. I waited until right before bedtime last night to tell her and she could hardly sleep she was so excited! They started out at Bouncing Tiger, then off to McDonald's for apples with caramel, next to paint pottery at Pottery Works, ice cream at Baskin and Robins, manis & pedis, pizza and it ended at City Park. I think I want to become Kylie's friend! LOL. Thanks Rebekah! It is all Matilda has talked about since she got home. The picture above was taken no more than five minutes after the date ended.
I decided to spend some QT with Bruen while Matilda was away. He really wanted to go to the movies but it was not an option with Bishop in tow. He has really been wanting to do this Spider jump at the mall so that is where we went. It was so cool. I even wanted a turn. We left the mall with a slice of cookie cake and an icee. I wish I could have gotten a picture of him eating his cookie. I promise you his eyes rolled back in his head when he took the first bite. That little boy does not eat much but he does LOVE the food he eats. He is so much cheaper to take to the mall than his sister. He thanked me for the jumping experience as well as the icee and cookie! He is such a sweet boy. We ended our time together with a trip to Chocollage for Webkinz trading cards and a bookmark.

Boy Night Girl Night

Bedheads
Summertime Fun

Hotel Treasures from Aunt Lisa

A SCRATCH!

Matilda bathing Bishop

The kids have been begging to have a friend spend the night. I really do miss Baton Rouge and our regular play dates! On Saturday Bruen had John Christopher over. I told him Saturday afternoon that Ju Ju would be bringing him home when she got off of work. His response was "Oh great they will get a chance to know each other on the ride home. They don't know each other very well." Where does he come up with this? LOL!!! The boys spent the weekend playing the wii, DS, doing the water slide, and walking in the corn fields. They were so well behaved I let him sleep over again tonight. Tomorrow Matilda will have her BFF Kate over. She is so excited she can hardly stand it.
Today Matilda went with my dad to see his parents. While visiting, my Aunt Lisa gave her a bag full of hotel soaps, shower caps, shampoo, conditioner, and lotions that she brought home from her recent vacation. Boy was she excited! Every trip I go on I kill myself trying to find the "perfect" treat. Little did I know it was right in front of my eyes.....and FREE!!!!!! She could not wait to bathe tonight. Thanks Lisa!
Also while she was at MeMe's she told me that a stranger tried to play with her new pink Build a Bear pony and she was not happy about it. She told me that she told MeMe(my grandmother) that she did not want the baby to touch it. I asked her again who she told and she said "MeMe, you know the old lady with the gray hair." Little Matilda tells it like she sees it:) I wonder where she gets that honesty?

Servant

Today we had to load up in the car for our three hour trip of errands. I thought I would hook the t.v.s up in the car to make it less painful for the troops. Bruen quickly laid down the rules for the backseat entertainment. Rule #1 He picked the first movie. Rule #2 Matilda had to carry the movie case holding over 100 dvds to the car. Of course she already had her sunglasses on her head, scarf around her neck, and two purses on her shoulder. She held onto the case for a minute before she realized she was being used! She quickly dropped the case at Bruen's feet and told him these exact words, "Bruen, Oh No, I am NOT your servant." I am pretty sure I have told them those exact words.

She is really big on the servant thing these days. My dad and Anna are taking Bruen and Matilda to Tennessee on vacation at the end of July. Matilda asked my dad if they would be staying in a hotel with servants. I giggled and told my dad that I had know idea where she got that. My dad blamed me and my mom. I hardly think that either of us live a life with servants!!!

Mohawk

Bishops hair is ending up in this position even after I wash it and comb it down. I do think it is cute and funny but I am thinking a little further down the line it may not be so adorable. Oh well it is a real show stopper around town these days.
He has cut two top teeth this week and another two top teeth will be out by next Friday. He has had that adorable smile on his face all week. He is such a good baby......thank you Jesus!

Jump N Jive

On Thursday Donna and I decided to surprise the kids with a trip to jump n jive. It was all the way in Prairieville but it was the only place with open play and air conditioning! I really think that someone could be making a killing with some indoor entertainment during the summer. Although I am not the one to open that business because my plate is already FULL!!! Chuckie Cheese is so done..... Anyway the kids had a fun time. They always enjoy getting together and they all get along like siblings. Is that good or bad?

Too Many Drive Thrus

Last week I pulled up at the drive in window at the bank and Bruen yelled from the backseat that he wanted chicken nuggets, french fries , and a root beer. The best part of this story is that we had just eaten lunch at a restaurant! Does this mean we go to too many drive thrus? I vote YES!

Fathers Day at False River

We spent the weekend at the River and boy was it fun. Our friends Clay and Jill came with their little boy Barrett and their boat. The kids had an awesome time tubing while I sat in the boat holding my breath and doing thumbs up to them to express how proud I was of all their dangerous tricks. They were fearless and I was nauseated!
I remember not that long ago being on Cane River with my brother and sister in law in a boat watching their kids on the tube. She would scream and curse her husband for driving too fast and wreck less, and then scream at the kids to hold on with both hands. As I sat in that boat, holding my one year old, I remember thinking that she was being so ridiculous. I now know that feeling. I am sorry for thinking you were being completely uncool, Rachel. I now can relate.
Anyway, we spent the weekend eating, swimming, and making good memories!

Minnie Pearl

My dad came to pick up the kids to go swimming. This is what Matilda left in. Notice the fur wrap. FYI: This was this week. Luckily she did not pass out!

Girls only weekend....and Bishop

Matilda and Pinky Pie

Matilda bathing Pinky Pie

Matilda and Pinky Pie on the Carousel Brian and Bruen went to Tallulah to unload some furniture and the rest of us stayed home. Matilda decided we were going to have a "Girls Only" weekend but Bishop could come along to. She made a long list of things to do. The list included putting on make up, jewelry, dress up, watching movies, going to Build a Bear, and riding the Carousel at the mall. I think she forgot to ask me what I might enjoy doing! After my first trip to Build a Bear I have decided that it is definitely a place for grandparents and grandchildren. In fact I was the only mom in the place. Why didn't I come up with that great idea.....they are making a killing! FYI: She has not put Pinky Pie down since she got her. I call her Pinky Poo just to aggravate her and it works. She gets soooo frustrated!

Vacation Bible School-St. Aloysius

Here are some pictures from Vacation Bible School. Bruen went last year and LOVED it. He has asked for the past 365 days when it was going to start again. Matilda, on the other hand, was not so excited. She pouted the entire day on Sunday. She asked me why I had to sign her up for summer school.
The exciting thing for Bruen was the skit performed by some teenage kids at the end of the week. He told me that they were actors coming in from Hollywood, California. He was in awe at these kids and had them all sign his tshirt on the last day. I think they both had a great time!
